Now that summer is coming to an end, it's time to jumpstart your skin's renewal process! The sun's rays can thicken the skin, produce pigmentation, increase free radical damage, and accelerate aging. Exfoliating treatments are the best way to reverse damage, but the addition of a repair serum will transform your skin beautifully. Serums are formulated with higher concentrations of actives which are easily delivered into the skin's deepest layers, due to their small molecule size.
Enter: Radiance Age Restorative Serum. This magical product is my go-to serum during facial treatments. Radiance is designed to repair the skin with a unique blend of collagen stimulators and remodeling actives. Combining epidermal growth factors, Radiance allows your skin to stimulate healthy cell production and assists in the reparative process. Spin Trap, Tetrahydrocurcuminoids (turmeric), Alpha-Lipoic Acid, L-Superoxide Dismutase, L-Glutathione, and Resveratrol are powerful antioxidants blended together to ward off cellular damage, prevent degradation of collagen, enhance wound healing, reduce melanin production, and prevent oxidation of your precious cell membranes.
Radiance also contains Aminoguanidine; this beauty is a key ingredient in fighting Advanced Glycation End products (AGEs), due to glycation. Glycation is the process when sugar molecules bind to collagen proteins, creating said AGEs. As you know, collagen and elastin are what keep the skin plump and bouncy, although when excess sugars become attached to these proteins, they become brittle, stiff, and malformed. Thus, leading to sagginess, wrinkles, and discoloration. Glycation is a part of aging, but with Aminoguanidine, the effects of aging are lessened and even reversed!
One of the special things about Radiance is its luscious scent. The beautiful blend of Red Mandarin Orange, Neem, Vanilla, Basil, and Eggplant oils give this serum a warm depth with a kiss of citrus which is just intoxicating.
Radiance is easily incorporated into your daily regimen by applying a pea-sized amount day and/or night after cleansing and toning, followed by your moisturizer and/or SPF. Radiance is designed to restore natural beauty to mature, damaged, menopausal, and even sensitive skin.
If you're ready to repair, renew, and rejuvenate your skin, Radiance could be the perfect serum for you!
Yup. That one thing you always want to hear about your skin, but the one thing that many of us forget to do? Exfoliate!
As we age, our cellular turnover decreases leading to dull, lifeless skin. Our lines and age spots become more prominent and breakouts develop due to build up of dead cells. Physical exfoliation utilizes seeds and uniform materials to gently remove the dead cells while enzymes and gentle acids dissolve and remove the bonds between the cells to reveal healthy, glowing skin. Dermaplaning is also a perfect option for all skin types and conditions as it gently exfoliates and removes fine hair, which allows for better product penetration. All forms of exfoliation create an enhancement of penetration of your corrective serums so you will get much better results, too! Be mindful of the amount of exfoliation, however. Too much is never a good thing which can lead to inflammation and damage of your natural barrier, so focus on exfoliating about 2-3 times a week.
Gentle exfoliation is key for glowing skin and with so many products and treatments, it's important to consult with a professional to develop the best plan for YOU.
My mission is to create a healthy and effective regimen to keep your skin refined and glowing, while keeping your inflammation reduced and protective barrier strong!
Skincare is often looked upon as being confusing and overwhelming, but in fact, it's simple! Keeping it as easy as possible allows you to enjoy the process, rather than thinking of it as a chore. Skincare is an act of self-care so developing a regimen is a step toward a healthy lifestyle!
Let's think of your skincare regimen in steps:
Cleansing is truly an important step in your regimen. Cleansing is designed to gently remove build-up from your skin such as dirt, makeup, oil, toxins, and pollutants. Think of your clean skin as the canvas for the rest of your regimen. Allowing your skin to be free from build-up ensures your targeted treatments can penetrate beautifully, retaining those beneficial actives! When choosing a cleanser, always look for one without sulfates (remember: sulfates are harsh foaming agents which strip your skin of its natural, protective oils) and preferably formulated with ceramides and hyaluronic acid which keep your skin moist, supple, and protected. Many are switching to oil cleansing as their primary cleanser in their regimen. Oil attracts oil so these cleansers work wonderfully by deeply cleansing your pores whilst keeping your skin's natural moisture barrier intact. The nutrient-rich oils also deliver vital antioxidants allowing your skin to defend against damaging free-radicals!
Exfoliating is a crucial step that people often do excessively or neglect entirely. Exfoliating leaves your skin beautifully soft and smooth that people think is necessary, however, too much of this can be extremely damaging. Thus, many people are unsure how to exfoliate, when to exfoliate, and what to use!
The ideal amount to exfoliate at home is 2-3 times a week which allows your skin to retain its protective barrier while keeping your pores clean. Keeping your skin clean from debris allows your at-home treatments to penetrate better, also!
Choosing an exfoliant is a tricky one. Raise your hand if the apricot scrub embraced your face at one point in your life! (Yes, even I loved that scrub). Now, throw that stuff away! The ground apricot pits are so irregularly shaped that they cause micro-tears in the skin, leading to damaged collagen and elastin. Don't sign yourself up for premature aging! Exfoliants that contain uniformly shaped seeds is ideal, such as the CosMedix Purity Detox Scrub. This is a fave of mine that contains poppy seeds, date seeds, and jojoba esters. I also love to use oat or rice flour with a skin-friendly oil such as jojoba oil to exfoliate while the oil enhances your skin's moisture barrier as well. Gentle exfoliating masks with fruit enzymes and acids such as lactic and salicylic acid are also a yummy treat for your skin. The acids and enzymes dissolve impurities, detoxify, and balance while also revealing soft, smooth skin.
Nurturing your skin is an act of self-care and weekly at-home masks are the perfect way to indulge yourself!
Remember that your home exfoliation ensures the effectiveness from your monthly facial treatments, also.
Treating your skin with stimulating and repairing active serums improves the quality of your skin. Serums are concentrated treatments packed with growth factors, powerful antioxidants, peptides, retinol and other incredible actives. Treatment serums prevent and reverse aging, treat acne, promote healing, regenerate renewal for more youthful skin, nourish for a healthy glow, infuse your skin with potent antioxidants, brighten pigmentation, and the list goes on! Well, how do you incorporate a serum into your regimen? Simply, treatment serums can be used morning and night. These typically contain ingredients that assist in your skin's natural recovery process and infuse vital nutrients deep within your skin. Treating your skin with serums containing retinols and acids are stimulating and need to be only used nightly, however. It's important to build your skin's tolerance to these actives being that they increase your cellular turnover and have the potential to cause irritation. Your skin regenerates itself at night so applying your treatments allows your skin to absorb these actives easily, waking up with glowing skin!
Keep your skin soothed, restored, and protected with moisturizing. Moisturizers provide the skin with superior hydration by replenishing the skin's natural moisture barrier, leaving you protected. No matter your skin type, everyone needs to moisturize, even oily skin! Those prone to oily skin tend to be dehydrated and your skin over-produces sebum to compensate for the lack of moisture. If oiliness is your concern, look for lightweight fluid moisturizers or even hydrating serums to provide your skin the moisture it needs without being thick and heavy.
Sun protection is the best anti-ager and with investing your time and money into building your regimen, it's important to retain your results and mostly, prevent cancer. Choose a broad spectrum sunscreen that guards against UVA and UVB rays with at least an SPF of 30 and apply everyday, even if you're indoors. The sun's harmful rays are mutagens and affect the DNA of your skin's layers and overtime, can develop into cancer.
Now that we've discussed the steps, let's go over your regimen!

Perfect for all skin conditions, including hypersensitive.
Acne is a condition that affects 90% of teenagers, with the peak years between ages 17-20. Adults also suffer from acne in their 30's and 40's, and older! We all struggle with acne but yet, we aren't quite sure what exactly it is and why it happens. Let's discuss all about acne and how we can treat it!
What is acne?
Acne arises when excess sebum, dirt, and dead skin cells become trapped deep inside the follicle. Once the pore is blocked, the oxygen-less environment allows bacteria, P. acnes, to form, becoming an inflamed and swollen pimple. Whiteheads, or closed comedones, are trapped material that can develop into acne if not treated properly. Blackheads, or open comedones, form when the pore remains open and becomes darkened due to oxidation. Blackheads form more commonly in oily skin types due to the over-active sebaceous glands. Cystic acne is the most difficult type of acne to treat. These lesions are triggered by hormones which cause the skin's oil glands to become hypersensitive. These oil glands overproduce sebum, so much so that the glands become engorged and burst under the skin, creating hardened nodules. Cystic acne presents an increased risk of scarring due to their potential to destroy collagen so it's important to seek guidance from a professional.
Now that we know the different types of acne, what can we do to prevent and treat it?
Although acne is an inflammatory condition, it can be easily treated and prevented with the proper skincare routine and nutrition. Acne presents an emotional trigger if not properly taken care of but this battle can be won! Set your skin free today!
Summertime is here! The change in the warmer months calls for a little change in your skincare routine.
The Florida humidity does WONDERS for our skin (my hair? not so much) and being that our skin is compromised of about 70% water, it soaks up the humidity like a sponge! This allows our skin to be kept moist and hydrated while preserving our youthful elasticity and skin tone. Make the most out of the wondrous humidity by incorporating skincare products that contain hyaluronic acid or its salt derivative, sodium hyaluronate. This magical ingredient is a natural component of the skin and has the ability to absorb 1000 times its own weight in water! Being that it's naturally present in your tissue, the capacity of absorption is 100%! This allows the repair of your skin's moisture barrier leaving it plumper, smoother, and healthier! With having a healthy moisture barrier, this allows your skin to defend itself from damaging free radicals and inflammation which causes rosacea, eczema, and acne.
If your moisturizer doesn't contain hyaluronic acid or sodium hyaluronate, you can always boost your barrier with a product like CosMedix's C.P.R. Skin Recovery Serum. Potent antioxidants, Blue Agave, Arnica, and Azulene make this restorative serum a powerhouse in kickstarting recovery, healthy healing, regeneration of cells for more youthful, revived skin. May also be used for minor sunburns!
The summer months also call for lighter moisturizers. The humidity presents a small issue--bacterial growth. With using lighter creams and moisturizers, this allows our skin to breathe just a bit better. But, the importance of exfoliation mustn't be forgotten. As our sun protection is a bit heavier and sweat production increases, our pores need to be deeply cleansed to prevent the build-up of bacteria. Exfoliation 2-3 times a week is ideal but don't stray away from the monthly peels as well! Chemical peels during summertime are often disapproved, however, with safe sun protection chemical peels are just as effective during the warmer months. Chemical peels prevent worsening of photo damage and hyperpigmentation, along with the appearance of new damage. Treating your skin during summer with chemical peels prevents deeper, more intensive treatments...saving you money and downtime!
When it comes to summer skincare, a little exfoliation and a boost of hydration from hyaluronic acid or sodium hyaluronate will keep your skin youthful and protected. Blended with the appropriate anti-aging products and sun protection, you will be summer ready with beautiful, glowing skin!
Breakthrough with brilliance! This gentle yet powerful serum is safe enough for daytime use! Pair with proper sun protection and you're on your way to radiant skin!
This brightening serum is recommended for most skin types, except highly reactive. Safely treats hyperpigmentation and photodamage without the use of hydroquinone or arbutin.

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month and with the warm weather and sunny days approaching (or our year-round glorious sunshine), we need to be mindful about sun protection and skin cancer prevention.
Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States with melanoma being the deadliest. On average, one American dies every hour from melanoma and one in 50 Americans will develop melanoma in their lifetime. Fortunately, skin cancer is the most preventable form of cancer! As ultraviolet (UV) rays cause skin cancer, be sure to follow these prevention guidelines:
One of my top selling sunscreens is Reflect (pictured). Reflect is a natural SPF 30 sunscreen containing non-irritating titanium dioxide which protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays. Reflect also infuses the skin with antioxidants and peptides which protect the cells from DNA damage and the stimulation of melanin (melanin is the pigment that darkens the skin). Not only does this sunscreen protect you from the damaging rays, its spray-on convenience makes it perfect to throw in your bag for easy reapplication throughout the day!
In my facial treatments, I will always take a deeper look at your skin under the magnifying lamp, whether you need extractions or not. It's extremely important for an Esthetician to look and feel for suspicious spots. I have referred dozens of clients to dermatologists if I see a questionable growth or mole and have had much success with early detection. Your skin is your largest organ which protects your immunity so it's vital to take these precautionary steps to prevent skin cancer!
Happy Cinco de Mayo! Use up any leftover avocados today and treat your skin to a facial mask! Knowing myself, leftover avocados just don't exist (I just love their fatty goodness!) but this mask is fantastic for a little rejuvenation even if you have to run to the store.
Avocados contain more than 20 vital nutrients, including potent Vitamin A and C, which regenerate cells for more youthful skin. Avocados with their lush fatty oils will also moisturize, heal, and allow your skin to replenish its natural moisture barrier!
Just mash the fruit with a tablespoon of raw honey into a paste and spread evenly onto the skin. Leave on for 10-20 minutes and gently wipe away. Apply your moisturize and that's it! Use this mask when you're feeling dull and flakey and you'll feel the difference instantly! Nothing better to treat yourself than an at-home facial mask with real ingredients!
