There's been a surge of wellness and self-care practices in 2016, yay! With our lives being as busy as ever, it's important to take the time to provide for ourselves and we are now just realizing this. If we go without fulfilling our own needs, we eventually breakdown, mind and body, and even soul. We need to continue to stay strong and healthy in order to provide for our families, be a supportive sibling, the advice-giving friend, the loving partner, and to be the best version of ourselves.
I feel beyond blessed what 2016 was for me but yes, I did have days where I was feeling down and mostly because, I never said "no". "No" is a one word answer which does not need explanation. Allow yourself to drop the guilt and feel that freedom as you say "no" and say "yes" to your own needs. Self-care does not have to be expensive or extravagent, as the the most effective things are the small yet important ones that make you feel good. Whether it's snuggling up with your favorite blanket and a good book, lighting a heavenly candle and taking a warm bath, watching your favorite movie with a good cup of tea, going for a walk and breathing in the fresh air, or treating yourself to a nuturing facial treatment, there are endless ways to fulfill your happiness.
Set goals for yourself and keep them for only you to know about. Keep a planner or journal and write down your goals and let those be your guide to self-care. We are visual beings and seeing our goals written down keeps us aware of what we need to do to maintain our happiness.
Our bodies and minds are who we are and if we aren't nurtured, we begin to feel the effects. We need to take the time to heal, repair, and rejuvenate ourselves and YOU are the only can who can provide it! You deserve it and you are allowed to take the time to breath and restore yourself.
I consider what I do a gift. I am able to give to you what you cannot give yourself which is just liberating. Next time you come in for your treatment with me, take in the scents, the sound of the music, the softness of the blankets, my warming touch, and fall into complete bliss.
Happy 2017! Let's start together on your path to self-care!
